How to use a Kremlin 10-14 airmix system

Kremlin AIRMIX start up & Maintenance

· Black air hose always goes to the gray regulator (atomizing air)
· Blue fluid hose goes to the pump outlet and is controlled by the Red regulator (fluid pressure)
· Fill the pump solvent cup with solvent T material that is provide with the pump. This cup should always have solvent T in it to keep the pump rod lubricated.
· Run clean solvent thru Pump when starting up for the first time.
· Start Pump with both the Red and Gray Knobs backed off to 0 LBS, main line air into unit at about 80-100 LBS, Put the fluid material tube in material or solvent to be sprayed.
· Remove air nozzle and fluid tip from Gun.
· Turn the RED knob up until Pump starts to cycle. Once pump start to cycle, Hold the trigger of the gun open facing back into the material bucket (point at the side of the pail so that material does not kick back at you) Continue to hold the gun open until a steady flow of material to coming out of the gun. Once you have a steady flow release the trigger. The pump should stop shortly after you let go of the trigger.
· Every spray tip should have a tip gasket mounted inside the back of the tip, ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE THIS GASKET IS IN PLACE BEFORE PUTTING TIP AND AIR NOZZLE BACK ON THE GUN. Any tip 09 or larger will have a white tip seal. Tips 06 and smaller will have a black seal with a screen.
· Place tip and air nozzle on the gun, this should be hand tight.
· Note all materials that you may spray are different and may require different pressures, or even different tips depending on your final finish needs and the speed you would like to go. Please Note in order to control your over spray you should always spray at the lowest possible pressure to get the job done at the speed you want to go.
· A good starting point for the fluid pressure (RED Knob) is about 30 LBS. The red knob will control how even the inside of you spray pattern will be or over all atomization. The Gray knob is for shaping air and controls the outside part of your pattern start with this pressure at about 10 LBS.
These pressures will increase depending on the materials to be sprayed. Most wood finishers end up between 35 and 50 lbs on the red knob and 10-15 on the gray knob. Using a 06 or 09 tip. It is the tip Size that increases the speed that you want to spray at. Pressure improves quality of the finish.

Clean up and Maintenance
· If you spray the same material everyday and the material has a pot life of 5 or more days. You can leave material in the system UNDER PRESSURE to be sprayed the next day. At this point it is suggest that you leave the pump rod in the down position to keep air from getting into the system. The Gun Air Nozzle and Tip should be removed and cleaned in solvent (be careful to not loose the tip gasket) and then with a clean solvent rag wipe down the gun and Lubricate the Needle assembly in front of the trigger (Vaseline is good for this). It is also recommend that the filter at the Handle of the gun be cleaned at least every other day that you spray.
· If you do not spray everyday, use a material with a short pot life, change colors or change coating the system will have to be cleaned at every use. To do this start by Backing off the Gray knob (Air to the gun is not needed to clean the system) pull the pickup tube out of the coating being used and please into a container with the proper solvent to clean out the system, Take air nozzle and fluid tip off the gun, being careful not to loose the tip seal, Back off the Red knob to about 20 LBS on the pump, Point gun into a waste pail and pull the trigger (be careful here you will get a surge in pressure when you first pull the trigger) continue to let material run thru the system until clean solvent come thru the system. Once you have clean solvent put the tip and Air nozzle back on the gun and then spray some clean material thru the tip. At this time take the nozzle back off the system. Turn the air supply off to the pump, Pull the trigger on the gun to release the pressure, Once all the pressure is drained off it is now safe to clean or replace the fluid filter at the handle of the gun. Once this is completed the system can now be re-charged with solvent or a new coating.
· The system should never be left for long periods of time dry. If you are not going to be using the system it should be left wet with the proper solvent under pressure with the piston rod in the down position.
· Before using the system again Make sure you have solvent T in the solvent cup of the pump and make sure the Tip Gasket is in place.
